Working with a Personal Trainer
Working with a qualified personal trainer is so much more than having someone to teach you how to move properly and push you out of your comfort zone. A personal trainer brings accountability, around the clock support, and, arguably the most important, education. Knowledge is power and when it comes to your health and fitness goals, having a proper understanding of what is required to achieve them and create realistic and sustainable change is incredibly empowering. Time is one of the most valuable things that we cannot buy nor get back, so unless exercise and nutrition is something you have studied or want to study, a lot of the changes you make whilst trying to achieve your goals will be based on guesswork or something you saw online that may or may not be true. Working with a trainer will take out the guesswork, save you time, and provide you with education on all aspects of health, fitness and exercise and help you navigate potential roadblocks to better eating and exercise habits, set realistic goals, and establish healthy routines for long term success.
Reasons To Work With A Personal Trainer (me in particular!)
Are you struggling to get into an exercise regime whether at home or in a gym, feeling demotivated post-lockdown or simply not seeing results from your hard work? Working with me could help. Not everyone has the same needs and struggles and therefore applying a generic approach would not achieve results. I have a whole range of skills and expertise at my disposal ready to be pulled out as and when they are needed. Whether your needs are more related to habits and creating healthier coping mechanisms, or you are someone who has a sporadic work schedule which doesn’t allow for regular training slots; my approach from the start is very much centred around understanding you and where you are at. We will work together to achieve your goals in a way that is SMART and you-centric. My services are offered via video, in person and via my fitness app so I have something to suit everyone.
Accountability
I will help you stay accountable to your fitness goals by providing regular check-ins, tracking progress, and offering motivation and support throughout your fitness journey.
Customisation
Free online content is fantastic but as mentioned above, we are all very different so a one-size-fits-all type approach is not going to get optimal results and can often lead to injury and wasted time. I will provide you with tailored workout and nutrition plans based on your specific goals, fitness level, and preferences, ensuring that you receive a plan that suits your individual needs.
Receive Expert Guidance
Not only have I completed extensive studies in the field, I have made mistakes and learned through experience for more than 10 years. I have been injured, I have gone to extremes, and I have finally been able to find a balance that is sustainable and enjoyable. If you work with me you will benefit from my extensive knowledge in fitness and have a clear route without all the guesswork.
Prevent Injuries
I will help you exercise safely by teaching you proper techniques, providing supervision during workouts, and creating programs that take into account any pre-existing conditions or limitations, reducing the risk of injuries.
Learn About Nutrition and Exercise
When it comes to health and fitness, regardless of your goals, the truth is that only 20% of the work is to do with exercise; 80% is diet and nutrition. I will educate you on proper nutrition, balanced eating habits, and the science behind different exercises, empowering you with the knowledge to make informed decisions about your health and fitness.
Stay Motivated and Supported
I will offer ongoing motivation, encouragement, and support, helping you to stay focused and committed to your fitness journey, even when facing challenges or setbacks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find the answers to common questions about Personal Training below.
Sadly, most commercial gyms do not allow outside Personal Trainers to train clients there unless they are either employed by the gym or paying rent. If your gym offers a pay-per-hour model whereby trainers can pay for an hour slot, then it should be fine. Speaking to the reception at your gym should clear up any confusion. If you have a gym in your apartment that doesn’t have personal trainers or a manned reception, it is usually fine to bring outside trainers in.
I do provide training in people’s homes and have helped many clients achieve their goals from the comfort of their home. If you are someone who struggles to find the motivation or time to make it to the gym, having a trainer come to you is a really convenient option. If your goal is to build a large amount of muscle and you don’t have a gym at home or a good range of weights, training at home does have its limitations after a certain point. Although I can bring weights and equipment, there is a limit to how much I can carry and there is only so much a person can do to make 20kg challenging without doing 100 reps to feel a burn! Apart from heavy strength training, most other goals are more than achievable when training from home.
Meal plans and nutrition coaching are all services that I offer, but the level of support that you receive is dependant on the package that you sign up for. Personal Training is a standalone service that can be purchased in varying packs. However, if you feel that nutrition coaching and/or meal plans are something that you would benefit from then it is probably best that you purchase a programme or a nutrition coaching and/or meal plan add-on.
Working with a Personal Trainer can be so beneficial and save you a lot of time and pain in the long run. However, finding the right personal trainer for you is also important. Sometimes you may not gel with a trainer, and that is totally fine and completely normal, so it is advisable that you have a conversation with them first and clear up any questions that you may have. Having clarity on what working together will look like, how check-ins will be scheduled and what level of accountability and support you need, are some examples of things that you may want answered before working with someone.
